About

Dr. Asma Naimi

From an early age, my family instilled in me a passion for learning and a deep sense of responsibility to society by sharing stories about our roots. With a PhD in social entrepreneurship and over a decade of experience in the social impact field, I aim to bridge the gap between ‘what we know’ and ‘what we do’, challenging the status quo while shining a light on untold stories that matter.

I am curious about the human experience and research, write about, and develop innovative approaches to address societal challenges. I have witnessed the gap between academia and the public amidst widespread misinformation that polarizes society. This has been one of my biggest frustrations, because I believe knowledge should be accessible and the foundation for impactful ideas, fostering our interconnection.

That’s why I made it my mission to create evidence-based Stories for Social Change on a personal level and on the most divisive societal challenges of our time, such as migration and inequality, and highlight the impact of underrepresented changemakers.

Background: I worked as an Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and completed my PhD (cum laude) at Esade Business School in Barcelona. I lecture at various universities and have spent over a decade advising private, governmental, and social organizations on international development, social entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility, implementing projects worldwide (e.g., PwC, Orange Corners, Ashoka, Social Enterprise NL). These cross-sector and cross-cultural experiences have reinforced my belief in the necessity to break out of our bubbles. We need everyone to create a better world.
